Aspen Moose Reunion

How blessed we have been to have the whole family meet this summer at the Aspen Moose Lodge at Timberlakes, near Heber City, UT. Meagan, Ryan and Jase were home for part of the summer so we gathered to play. Jess brought his 4-wheelers, Adam brought his jet ski's, some golfed and there was plenty to do just at the lodge. The only scare was a little spell of sickness. Thank heavens we weren't all quarantined with swine flu. We love our family so much and thank each and every one who came. Beth was in Grandma Heaven with the little kids and Randy held it all together.

Tom and Erika (still the lovebirds)

As usual there are absentees, (Randy, taking the picture and Tom w/headache).

Jase (20mo.) and Gavin (4),buddied it up in a stick T-Pee.
(Gavin claimed to have built it with his brothers.)
Linda and Jess, busiest people we know. They sandwiched this trip in between a half marathon in Heber and Linda's job presentation.
Uncle Joe giving some expert fishing advice to Kyler.

Papa and Corbin 4-wheeling

Papa and Jase (Ball Man)

Foosball fanatics, Joey, Adam, Ryan and Jess

Sweet wildlife pics. We also saw a badger, a moose, a water snake, and tons of pot guts.

Trapping the pot guts was Joey's invention and a favorite occupation for the nephews.

hey fam whats up. joe and the parents finaly got real internet service that doesnt up set joe to use so i thought i would put a little something up hear. i dont ahve a verry interresting life so not a lot of new info but i put up some pictures that are about a year old cuz i have to go that far back to find a part of my life worth tellin. just kidding but i havent taken pictures for a while.
Ill tell the story. last march i think it was some friends and i thought we would go to a remote part of the Grand Canyon and camp out there so we loaded sean's truck with as much stuff as we could and four of us road in the cab and two in the bed ontop of all the camping stuff and took off.
as you can pobably see we didnt make it to the canyon we used my walmart atlas that wasnt very accurate and after a couple hours driving and not looking anything like the Grand Canyon we thought we would take what looked like a short cut up on this Mt. dilenbough or something like that . we ended up getting in some sloppy mudd and tryed to turn around and even though we were in 4x4 low and the seedometer in the truck said about 35 mph we were realy moving like 2 mph then we stoped. Sean's axls were under the mud. after realizing we probably wouldnt get out that night some of us unloaded the stuff and walked it to a dry place to spend the night and the hippie lookin kid stanton is his name worked for a couple hours trying to get the truck jacked up out of the mud and put some wood under tires. not possible. the mud was too sloppy you would sink to your calvs just walking in it and it would pull off your shoes. we all went back to the camp and eat some food. and went to bed. in the morning we decied to split up 3 of us would work on getting the truck out while the other 3 would start walking to a ranch we saw about 15 miles back. i was in the walking group it was an 8 hour walk we checked a few houses that no one lived in may be some canables the houses remided me of the movie worng turn if you have seen it. we stopped once to eat and cooked some deer steak on a rock it was actualy pretty good. finaly we got to the ranchers place and diceded to wait till it got dark and if he didnt get home then we would barow his four wheeler to get back to the camp with the others. he got home about the time the sun was setting and was happy to help us he got us out and we made it home that night. it wasnt quit what we planned but i still had a good time and hope to do another trip kinda like it this year , but mabe take 2 turcks and try not to get stuck.

Beginning

This is Beth and I will probably be the writer in our family. Meagan briefly showed me how to do this before she and her family left for Boston, so here goes.
After having Ryan, Meagan, and Jase live with us for a few months and Joey with his friend, Markelle (inseparable, but just friends)we felt like it was a happy and crazy family life again. Now we are back to empty nesting with only the left over trappings of the gang. Yes, Joey is still here but evidenced more by his stuff (which seems to grow daily) than by his actual being here.
We are feeling a little lonely. Funny how sweeping up the last of the little puffs that Jase loved to eat brought an empty feeling to the pit of my stomach.
We have enjoyed the Beijing 2008 Olympics these past two weeks. Randy has been glued to them, me kind of on and off ( I think I have developed ADD). Joey started working at YESCO with Randy and they are now on four 10-hour days a week and have Fridays off. This weekend my sister Elaine and her daughters Joy and Laura and also Andrea and new baby Kayla are coming on Friday for a Laura's birthday celebration. The girls will see "Big River" at Tuachan stay over at our house and we will all head back up North on Saturday. Randy and Joe are going to SLC on Thurs or Friday (to see the BYU game and to dove hunt) and we will meet up to come home after spending Labor Day weekend with family and friends.
Here's my personal news. Last Wednesday I had the second eye surgery to remove cataracts and replace my lens with IOL (Interocular Lens) not to be confused with IOC (International Olympics Committee) Ha, ha I never have been very good with the acronyms. The surgery went well and I am seeing okay and hoping that it will get better each day. Yeah! It seems so odd to go to bed each night without taking my contacts out after having done this for 44 years. Reading is still a little hard, there seems to be just a few inches where the focus is good enough and I have to concentrate on focusing.
